Happy 9 months sweet boy!! We just got back from the U.S. a couple days ago. I was so worried about traveling alone with you, because now that you crawl you just want to be on the go all the time! Well I shouldn’t have been worried, because you were an angel. It was a red eye flight and you slept nearly the whole time. Dreamy. It was so good that I agreed to meet my family in Disneyworld next week for less than 3 days. Am I nuts?
Anyways, we couldn’t be more enthralled with you. I can’t believe how much you changed in the last month when we were in the U.S. Before we left, you had no interest in crawling whatsoever and hated being on your tummy. Well the night we left Kaysville to be with my family in Florida, you just started out of the blue. Now you are all over the place, so I have to be much more careful!
While we were in Kaysville for Christmas, your favorite person by far was Tony. It was hilarious because you two had a routine. In a loud, rumbling voice he would say, “LIIIIIAAAAAMMMMM” and you would respond with a growl back. Everytime. So cute. You are making him baby hungry for sure:) You also loved Pyper, but unfortunately she didn’t want much to do with you haha.
You loved the Christmas trees, so one night we all bundled up to see the lights in Layton. We thought you would be in heaven, and the happiest little thing on the planet. We bundled you up in the stroller with about 5,000 blankets, and as we walked around we couldn’t get any sort of reaction from you. It was like the combination of cold air and all those lights was just too much for you to process. You didn’t fall asleep but stayed so still while your eyes shifted around. So funny. We also played a lot of cards on the round table, with you in your bumbo as the centerpiece.
I am loving this stage! You are so curious. You are happiest when we are on the go, so if you are really fussy we just go for a ride and you are happy as a clam. You definitely don’t like to be in the same place for long. You love it when I see nursery rhymes to you- especially patty cake and eensy weensy spider. You haven’t figure out how to clap yet, but love it when I do. You find it fascinating.
As for sleeping through the night, it is still a battle that is quite disheartening. If someone told me that I’d still be up 3x a night with a baby at 9 months, I’m not sure I would have had the courage to have a baby. Haha. But seriously..
Another hard thing is that you hate being fed. When we first started rice cereal, you really liked it. There was a 2 week stretch when we would give it to you before bed, and YOU SLEPT THROUGH THE NIGHT. I felt like a new person. But then one day you decided you wanted to do the feeding, and none of this being fed nonsense. So essentially rice cereal is impossible now, which is pretty devastating if you ask me. I can cut up fruit or anything really into pieces and you will eat that. You are so independent already!! Oh boy am I in for it;)
You started saying “dada” the other day- but i don’t think you have put the two and two together. I am insisting on “MAMA”. But wow do you love your dad! Alex went back to Brazil straight from Florida, but we stayed a couple weeks at my mom’s condo in Connecticut before heading back. We had a great time with my family, especially Hannah and Isabel. They absolutely adore you! When we flew back and were waiting in the airport for our bags and going through customs, tons of people came up to you oohing and ahhing. (Like usual.) But you were still tired from the red eye and were very serious. You wouldn’t crack a smile for anything. But when we walked outside and saw Alex, you were all smiles and giggles. I melted! One of my favorite moments.
You usually take 2 naps a day. Sometimes 3. And getting you to sleep for naptime is soo much easier than it was even a month ago. Sometimes it would take me 2 hours to get you to fall asleep, but I think we are over that bump!
Other favorite things: rice puffs cereal, your bumbo, crawling, nursing, being carried around somewhere new, adults (kids are a little iffy even though you could stare at them forever), being in the pool, the computer, your bouncy chair is the all time favorite (that hooks up to the door frame). I swear you’re going to bounce right out of that thing!
You hate: when I try to feed you, or put anything in your mouth (especially medicine), when I’m cleaning.
I think your front tooth is almost in! It looks so close. Fingers crossed it will come before the long flight this weekend.
I love you little man!
